Buying CCTV Cameras

We need first to know what kind of CCTV camera is suitable for your place. Do you need outdoor or indoor? Or even both. Is it fixed or rotating camera? Is it for day or night application? It all depends on your need.

Buying Recorder

In CCTV video recorder, it usually uses DVR (Digital Video Recorder) for arranging the camera footage and stores images from the cameras. There are two types of DVR – PC based and Standalone DVR. PC based uses card type DVR installed inside the computer where the camera will be connected to it, meaning it is PC dependent, everything happens to computer affects the DVR. Standalone DVR has its own Linux operating system, easy to maintain, to diagnose faults and to troubleshoot.

Buying (HDD) Hard Disk Drive

In standalone DVR, it needs Hard Disk Drive to store its recorded footages. It depends on the capacity of the hard disk on how long it takes to record the footages from the camera and it also vary on the recording resolution.

Buying CCTV Camera Cables

There are two options in choosing CCTV camera cables, Coaxial cable and UTP cable. Coaxial cable provides good advantage in terms of long range application and video quality but slight costly. UTP cable is used as an alternative for coaxial cable for it is much cheaper and its video quality and range application is not much different from coaxial cable.

Most of standalone DVR’s uses VGA port for video output and VGA type monitors are compatible for those type of DVR.  Monitors come with different sizes, the bigger the size the higher the resolution.
